What is the format setting for?

There are subtle but meaningful differences in the ways people communicate in different formats. The differences may yield different results when parsing the same text.

For example, a single word like “snowflake” is generally neutral. However, when someone utters it in a dialogue, they may mean it is as an insult. A name like “Hitler” as a sentence references a historic figure; but when used as an alias, it is usually a provocation.

The format setting provides the context of the utterance. If you’re processing short posts, we strongly recommend you set format to dialogue.
